Lost City Marathon Package 2027

5 days / 4 nights itinerary from 25 February - 1 March, 2027

 

25 February 2027: Welcome to Villahermosa and Palenque, Mexico

Welcome to Mexico! 

Arrive in Mexico on a suitable flight from your departure airport. For a seamless journey to Palenque, the optimal route is to fly into Villahermosa. While international flights don't land directly in Villahermosa, worry not—there are seven daily flights from the bustling hub of Mexico City.

Once in Villahermosa, you’ll spot our race officials beaming smiles on standby, along with fellow runners, ready to take you on a picturesque 2.5-hour drive to your hotel in Palenque. 

*Please note that domestic flights are not included in your package. To ensure a spot on the bus, kindly share your flight details, including arrival time, with us.

For those opting for alternative modes of transportation to Palenque, note that check-in at your chosen hotel is guaranteed from 15:00.

26 February 2027Explore the Maya ruins of Palenque & Race briefing

After breakfast, a bus will take us to restaurant Chiapaneca for the race briefing. Upon arrival, the race officials will go through important details regarding tomorrow's race and distribute your goodie bags. This is the last chance to change your running distance.

Your journey continues to the captivating Maya ruins of Palenque. Following a guided tour, you'll get to explore this historic site at your own pace. 

Afterwards, a bus will bring you back to your hotel, where you can use the rest of the afternoon to unwind or stroll through town before tonight's big pasta buffet. 

*If booked the Deluxe package, a lift into town is included.

27 February 2027: RACE DAY

Today is the big day! After an early breakfast at your hotel, we’ll depart at 6:00 AM by bus to the Palenque Archaeological Zone.

Upon arrival, you’ll have time to use the restrooms and drop off bags for the finish line. The race starts in waves, with marathon runners heading off first, followed by half-marathon participants.

Ten minutes before your wave, you’ll be allowed into the Archaeological Zone to line up at the start. Only items used during the race may be brought inside.

You’ll cross the finish line near restaurant Chiapaneca, where a well-deserved lunch awaits. Shuttle buses will be available to take you back to your hotel after the race.

28 February, 2027: Unwind, Explore & Celebration Dinner

 

For those seeking relaxation, it's the perfect day to hang out by the pool, while others may opt for an exploration of the Palenque ruins.

If you are in for some more adventure, consider booking an excursion with our knowledgeable guides to the breathtaking waterfalls of Agua Azul, promising a day filled with awe-inspiring natural beauty.

In the evening, buses will be waiting and ensuring everyone reaches the festive celebration dinner on time. We will rejoice in each other's accomplishments and indulge in excellent food and drinks late into the evening!

1 March, 2027: Return to Villahermosa or hello extension!

Unfortunately, our Lost City race adventure has come to an end.

Today, we’ll transfer you back to Villahermosa Airport for your return flight to Mexico City.

Four transfers to the airport will be available with the following arrival times: 07:30, 10:00, 13:00 and 16:30. It is possible to book a different transfer to Villahermosa Airport if the above scheduled group transfers do not fit your onward journey (extra charge).

21 February 2027  Welcome to Mexico city!

Arrive in Mexico City on the most suitable flight from your departure airport. From the airport, you can reach your hotel in the city center by metro, metrobus, shuttle bus, or taxi. Our hotel is situated in the historic center, just a short distance from the Zócalo.

*Taxi fares are fixed between the airport and the city center. 

Note: Check-in is not guaranteed before 15:00. However, the hotel offers the convenience of storing your luggage if you arrive early, allowing you to explore the city center.

22 February 2027  Exploring Teotihuacan & Tasting Mexico

 

After breakfast, we head out to explore the ancient city of Teotihuacan, home to the impressive Sun and Moon pyramids, located just an hour from Mexico City. Once one of the largest cities in the world, its origins remain a mystery — adding to the wonder of this archaeological site.

Our local guide will lead us along the Avenue of the Dead, sharing the history and architecture of this fascinating place.

In the evening, you can join an optional cooking class to learn how to prepare traditional Mexican dishes — a fun way to end the day and pick up some new skills!

23 February 2027 Relaxation & excursions

You have entire day free to explore the city at your leisure. In the evening you are welcome to join our optional excursion and witness a lucha libre wrestling match, which is a vibrant blend of sport, theater, and pop culture in Mexico. 

 

Meals: Breakfast & Taco tastings and drinks (if booked Lucha Libre excursion)

 

24 February 2027  Exploring Mexico City's Rich Heritage

 

After an early breakfast at the hotel, we are ready to explore the magical Mexico City with a guided tour. 

While the city is impossible to see all in one day, you can still get a feel for its versatility and history. Our tour begins at the National Museum of Anthropology, showcasing artefacts from Mesoamerican civilisations; a perfect place to gain an understanding of the fascinating country.

For those less museum-inclined, the surrounding park offers a peaceful break from the bustle of the city.

In the afternoon, our journey takes us south towards the borough of Xochimilco, known for its accredited World Heritage Site canals and waterways. From there, we will take a boat ride through the famous Trajineras or floating gardens.

The tour wraps up upon our return to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your own leisure to explore Zócalo and the pedestrian area surrounding our hotel.

25 February 2027 Domestic flight to Palenque

It's time to join the other runners!

After breakfast, a bus will take you to the airport for our domestic flight to Villahermosa. 

Depending on the final number of participants, there will be either one or two departure times. 10:40 AM and/or 1:15 PM. If there are two times, you can request the earlier or later departure. More information can be found in Important Info (below). 

Once we land in Villahermosa, we have about a 2.5-hour drive to Palenque. We’ll then check in at our hotel and can use the rest of the day and evening to settle in, preparing for the big race weekend.

26 February 2027: Explore the Maya ruins of Palenque & Race briefing

1 March, 2027: Farewell Mexico, or Hello Extension!

 

 

Unfortunately, our Lost City race adventure has come to an end.

Today, we’ll transfer you back to Villahermosa Airport for your 09:02 AM return flight to Mexico City.

*Please ensure your international flight from Mexico City is scheduled no earlier than 5:00 PM.
