Starting out in 1970, the New York City Marathon has evolved from a local road race held entirely in Central Park to what is now the world’s largest marathon with a course that runs 26.2 miles through the five boroughs of New York City. Demand for places is high. Starting from the spectacular Verrazano Narrows Bridge on Staten Island and passing through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx before finishing in Central Park. It’s one of the ‘Big Seven’ Abbott World Marathon Majors and a marathon with a very generous time limit to finish of 8 hours +.Learn more
